Kumite Radio #65: UFC Welterweight Nordine Taleb (Tristar Gym)
Nordine Taleb has been a staple of the welterweight division for the past four years in the UFC on top of having a decade worth of experience under his belt.
His first taste of success came when he took out the destructive Pete “Drago” Sell for the Ring Of Combat Welterweight Title back in 2011.
Because of that impressive outing against Sell, Taleb eventually competed for Bellator and then was selected to be a contestant on The Ultimate Fighter Season 19 as a middleweight.
Even though he lost his only fight during the season, the Tristar Gym representative made his UFC debut at the TUF Nations Finale in 2014 and earned a unanimous decision victory by dominated Vic Grujic for most of the fight.
After proving that he belonged in the big leagues, he dropped back down to welterweight and accumulated a 6-2 record in arguably the toughest division in the promotion.
The 36-year-old is now scheduled to face Claudio Silva at UFC Liverpool on May 27 in the United Kingdom.
Nordine Taleb joined John Hyon Ko and George Hickman to discuss his training camp at Tristar Gym, feeling that Claudio Silva could pull out again, the story behind his fight with Pete Sell, the reasons why he stayed at welterweight and more.
