Diamondback FC 6 – Interviews
Diamondback Fighting Championships is coming in hot
This week sees the first time Ramen Choke Hold venture its way down to the beautiful state of South Australia. The Adelaide Oval is the venue and Diamondback Fighting Championships is the promotion. I have heard nothing but amazing things about this promotion and decided its about time I got my fat Wombat ass down there.
Coming off what I would call the card of the year (so far) up there at XFC 36 at the Mansfield, promoter Craig Icke is confident on putting on an amazing show for the fight fans around the country and to keep that ball rolling.
The main event sees a finish, anyway you look at it and I am really looking forward to it. Veteran “Ice Cold” Rick Alchin is coming into hostile territory to try and take the sweet newly designed DFC belt back home to the Central Coast. Whilst home town hero and reigning and defending DFC Middleweight Champion and number 1 ranked Australian Middleweight Shane “AAA” Mitchell looks to defend his belt on home soil in Adelaide.
I spoke to both men last week to talk about their match up and luckily caught up with Rick in person down at Wallarah Bay Recreation club, (sorry for the windy audio) as he is from my neck of the woods. Both men pretty much guarantee a finish. You can throw my guarantee on top of that as well.
Shane “AAA” Mitchell (10 -3) -Reigning Diamondback Fighting Championship Middleweight Champion
“Ice Cold” Rick Alchin (15-14) – Number 4 ranked Light Heavyweight in Australia/New Zealand
The co – main event of the evening
This is not the first time the competitors in the penultimate fight for the lightweight title have faced each other. Ethan Duniam vs Greg Atzori the first time around was an absolute war and I would suggest after a few years of improvement it promises to bring the fire even more. The Tarantula got the nod in the first fight have dropping Ethan in the first round with a head kick and controlling the rest of the round on the ground. In the second, another grappling dominate round from Greg However, the final round saw Ethan come on very strong and land several heavy shots and came close to pulling off the come back.
Ethan Duniam (9-5) – Number 3 ranked Australian Lightweight
Greg “The Tarantula” Atzori (20-10) – Number 4 ranked Australian Lightweight
So there you have it, It all goes down this Friday 17th August at the Adelaide Oval. Tickets are still on sale but are running out fast! Visit Diamondback’s website for all the details including their live stream.
